After recess, we covered the topic of a family story. I started this unit a while back and then we got busy with a few things and the project got dropped. My intention was to revisit the project at a later time and I spent some time re-working the idea so that everyone would have a chance to share a story, experience, tradition or ritual that their family has experienced at one point in time. We watched the clip below and I did the assignment myself and read my story to the class. In addition to this, we have shared family stories with each other as a discussion and my 89 year-old grandmother came in to share some of her life stories as well. Over time we have talked about the various elements of this assignment and I look forward to the products that come out of this work. We still have to write up the details. Coming tomorrow will be a graphic organizer, success criteria, learning goals and we will settle on the due date. The first half of the assignment was handed out in class today though and students had a chance to start thinking about what is expected of them and what they might want to write about.
For French, "Les Sports" were covered and the activities were completed in class. Tonight there is no homework if the work was completed in class. French party projects were handed back, and if you got your work in on the due date, Monsieur handed back the assignments marked already.
After recess we discussed the Cartesian homework from yesterday on coordinates and then jumped right in to translations. I have to say that the class has been great, and students used class time to get their work done. For your reference I have attached some of the instructional videos that we watched in class about translations with couple of links to help you if you get stuck. Tomorrow we begin with Math and work will be checked from this evenings activity sheet, and the Math we have done since Monday. Please come to class with all of your work done, as tomorrow we will move on to more difficult concepts and ideas.

We will start tomorrow with math, and will take up the homework from yesterday. We will cover rotations and reflections in the coordinate plane and I will definitely have videos, worksheets and some activities for tomorrow. There will most likely be a pop quiz on the coordinate plane this week (Thursday or Friday), and students will have to show what they know based on ordered pairs, translations and rotations. Please make sure if you have any problems that you speak to me ASAP!
For tomorrow:
- Scatterplot Geography Assignment is due tomorrow (no extensions, it's been over a week!)
- Thursday History notes are due
- Winter Activity day forms with $$ are due ASAP
- Science labs are due Friday/Monday
- Pizza Lunch $$ if you want to participate
Run between the raindrops, it's raining pretty hard out here in Whitby. I've attached a cool clip here at the bottom if you haven't already seen it, I like the song and the concept is neat. 5 people playing one guitar. Enjoy and see you tomorrow!
Annoying lady look at the links! ;)
