First Day Back!

Welcome Back Everyone!!
Today we started strong and I was happy to say that the class was working and on task most of the day.  We began by getting ready for our Data Management unit by covering our learning goals for the unit and doing 9 questions from the textbook.  Students are to read the two attached links at home tonight and come ready to do a Scatterplot graph tomorrow afternoon.

We quickly explored the concept of Density in Science and students were given the following hand-outs for their duotangs (please see attached photos).  Students are responsible for questions #1-4 in the Understanding Concepts section of the page below and were handed a page of  Science word problems involving calculating density.  Density=Mass/Volume.  We are set to do a lab on Wednesday and students are to be familiar with the lab by then.  Both questions and math problems are due this Wednesday and I will be available for extra help at recesses and after school should students need support.
For Language we had a discussion about the holidays, the fun we had when we were off, New Year's resolutions and other crazy events.  It seems as though students enjoyed themselves with their families and got some great presents and Boxing Day buys.  Below you will find the reflection question that was given in class.  Students are to hand it in on Wednesday.

JUST A FEW REMINDERS:
  • Science lab on Wednesday
  • Bring your art supplies for Thursdays double period of Art
  • Art projects are due on Friday (soft due date) or Monday (hard due date)
  • See you all tomorrow.  Great start to 2012!
