PURPLE DAY!!!

Wow!  What a day!  There was a lot of purple in the class today and I was happy to see you all trying to help each other out by sharing out your purple clothing, cosmetics and accessories.  Special thanks to Renis and Nicole for bringing in extra clothing for other people to wear and to Samara for giving impromptu manicures to both boys and girls in the class.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the pizza party and I hope that we won!

Today was an intro to Number Sense and Numeration.  We all have completed Chapter 7, on a previous day at the beginning of the year and we started to work on Expanded Form & Powers which most of you finished in class.  We'll get into some more challenging stuff tomorrow. 

We will take some time for Science tomorrow, please bring in your water bottles to work in your groups so we can explore the concept of viscosity a little more. 

If you haven't handed in your AWESOME rough draft for me to look over, you need to get it in to me ASAP!  I would love to have our book ready to publish by week's end. 

Alright, I've got to run off and make myself some dinner! See you tomorrow, purple monsters!

Grade 8 Night!

Whew! I am so glad that this day is FINALLY over.  It was a long day and I'm glad that your parents were able to come out and hear about our Grad Trip and your transitions to high school.  Just a reminder that the deposit for the trip is due on October 31st and if your parents are unsure about the trip they need to contact me ASAP! 


Just a reminder that the AWESOME writing assignment is due tomorrow at the end of the day.  Also you will need to organize into experiment groups to do our first test on fluids.  We need to get rolling on the Science, and figure out what's going on with particle theory.  I am looking forward to it and anticipate some interesting results.  After doing this experiment you'll have a better understanding about what viscosity is all about. 

Okay, I think that's all for now...and if you or your parents have questions about high school and your options please bring their questions and we'll get those queries answered.  Have a great night and I look forward to going to SATEC with the girls.  

It's been a while!

Hello Everybody! 
    It's really important to me that you do a few things tonight...as you prepare for the weekend.

1. Remind your parents about the information sessions on a) The Grad Trip to Quebec b) Highschool Info

2. Study for math...I will be available for questions before we start but you must be prepared to write tomorrow AM.  Can you chart the sequence? Can you figure out the formula? Make sure you can explain the pattern for tomorrow.

3. Please continue to work on your AWESOME rough drafts.  I would like to see who's done on Friday...and give you some feedback so that you know where you stand.  If you are unsure of what you have you need to speak to me ASAP. 

Today was a bit challenging today with the rain in the afternoon but I was proud at how you all handled yourselves in the morning.  Great work class!

Congratulations to Terry who is our student of the month.  Great work Dennis for your writing assignment I was impressed with your organization, voice and evidence and so were your peers.  McDonalds rewards to come soon! :)

Hello Universe!  Good evening to all of my class who have finally found our class link and thanks for joining me here.  I have changed the settings on the comment section so that if you would like to make a comment you may do so now.  I realize now that before I had it set so that to comment you had to be a member and that is probably the reason why some of you were having trouble yesterday evening!  Today was a pretty good day, and I have to say I was impressed with what you all brought to our class discussion about AWESOMENESS!! 

Today I assigned History work: Read p. 28-32 and do questions # 1-3

If you also have a chance start to process your final thoughts on your own AWESOME story that you want to put on paper and contribute to our book that would be great!  We will do an activity on that on Friday so come prepared to talk about it.

I will not be at school tomorrow as I have an appointment but I will try to post something tomorrow night for you to comment on.

Today is a day that feels like Monday but is really Tuesday.  From our discussion today we all seemed to feel like we need a vacation to get over our vacation.  Just a reminder that we covered "The book of AWESOME!" by Neil Pasricha and read some of his entries that we could relate to.  Tonight you need to brainstorm at least 3 AWESOME things that you have come across in your lives and come with your ideas to share them in class.

Math: Just a continuation on what we did on Friday.  p. 196 #8 + p.197 #9-12.  This work will be checked tomorrow AM. 

History: You will have time to work on your Confederation title page...please be creative! 

A tiring day back from vacation....I missed you though and am glad to be back. :)

Holiday Monday!

Today is a holiday...and we all have some time for a little rest.  I was hoping that I would be able to spend time with my daughter and do a little marking.  We'll see what happens as the day unfolds.  I hope all of you (even though you haven't logged on yet) are having a restful weekend filled with food, fun and fantastic times! Happy holidays...for one more day!

First Time Blogging!

Well today is a great day for me, because I just started my first class blog.  It's Thanksgiving weekend and I have a great deal to be thankful for.  To be honest I am thankful for this new class of students and this fantastic school.  I have an awesome husband and daughter and I have a great family.  2011 has been a great year for me and I can't wait to see what 2012 brings!
