Tuesday! Happy Birthday Fatima & Katrin!

Good evening all...busy day today, lots of things going on.

We started the morning with TECH, and Mr.Knierim gave students the opportunity to research their artists for the "Artist's Shoes" project. Hopefully time was spent wisely and shoe styles and artist styles were researched during this time. I promised students that I would post some art from the example artists Mme. Demeter gave us so please see them attached below.

"This is not a pipe" by Rene Mageritte - Madame did an example - This is not a shoe

Georgia O'Keeffe - flower and a ram's head from when she lived in New Mexico
Pollock's Number 8 - We saw a shoe decorated in this style

Now it's up to you grade 8's pick an artist, pick a style, pick a shoe and get creating! Can't wait to see the results!

Literacy this morning was dedicated to a reading package where students read for meaning and answered some questions on their own. A journal was also assigned and you will see the reflection question below.

This afternoon was dedicated to getting caught up in Math. There will be a quick quiz on the Pythagorean theory tomorrow, please find the movie related to this skill below.

A permission form was handed out for the Career Fair on Wednesday (next week). We will need a parent helper so if anyone has a parent (or older sibling) who has a morning that they were willing to give to help supervise it would greatly be appreciated. I want all forms back by Friday, there is no cost to parents and it will be an informative session for everyone involved so please bring back those forms.

I have also set a Friday deadline for chocolates. All money and unsold chocolate needs to be in by this Friday!! We need to finalize numbers for the trip to Quebec so please get the chocolate money in ASAP! A case of chocolate is worth $46.78 to your trip, so take that off the total cost of your trip and you've got your total!

Please find some photos from our trip yesterday to the Bloor Cinema downtown. A special thanks goes to: Katrin Zoga (G.Z.'s big sister who's birthday it is today), Mr. Chan (J.M.C.'s dad) and my cousin Ashley Wheeler for their help in supervising the trip. We enjoyed ourselves and had a pretty good discussion about the films in class today. We'll be discussing the themes of documentaries in the next few weeks and the reason why films are made. Please find the preview to the film we will be watching in class tomorrow.

Hot Docs - In School Film Festival is in full effect! See you tomorrow 8's!
