After a restful weekend we started at full force and began our morning reading from our Novel "Speak". We read aloud, discussed the book and students were able to question and discuss their ideas about the characters Melinda and Heather. Tonight's homework: A journal response. Please see it attached.
We did some math games this morning as well. Students were instructed to created a circle on centimetre graph paper and then estimate its area and then use their formulas. They wrote up the differences between their results and we did what's called a BANSHO of work. Work was posted up on the walls and each group walked around and evaluated the work of the others. We talked about what was good about the data presented and what needed work. Overall, students are being a little too brief on communicating their ideas about their findings. We need to get more detailed about our work, and clearly label diagrams and information appropriately. Homework tonight, practice area of a circle for the test tomorrow with the link below!
