Monday, monday, monday!

Today was a bit challenging, to say the least. Lots of group work = work getting done/some people losing focus.

We started off today, with a double period of History planning and construction. Students were given the last opportunity to get work done on their presentations and their poster boards. All look much better than on Wednesday, and some groups have taken the feedback I gave them and made some improvements on their work. This makes me happy, and it will also reflect in your marks so... :).

Filming for the Holiday film happened all day today. Thanks to the whole class, as well as Sahifa, Samara and Fatima for getting last minute takes done for our really tight deadline.

We also did problem solving in groups answering a question which required multiplication with integers. The math teams were out flexing their muscles, and I have to say I was impressed with the quality of work this afternoon. We broke the class into two groups; two groups presented their results and then the rest of the class were in two smaller clumps observing and evaluating. Each group evaluated each other on how they presented their answers and I have to say that most students were honest with each other on what they did well, and what they could improve either as presenters (communication) or on the clarity of their calculations (knowledge and understanding). Math homework tonight is problem solving p.365 #16-22.

Due to various rehearsals with the majority of the French Immersion students Mr. Ndikumana requested that I give the students time to work on their group work presentations for the "Party" planning assignment. Students worked in their partners and planned their ideas.

We discussed the Pen Pal letters and we decided as a class that they all should be done by Wednesday. Students that didn't get a pen pal letter, are not required to do one...seeing as that is not fair. I have communicated to the other teacher and hopefully all of the missing letters will be sent by e-mail ASAP!

For tomorrow DON'T FORGET!!
1. Food bank trip tomorrow afternoon we'll be back by 3:30 the latest.
2. Bring your LUNCH and BUS FARE for tomorrow's trip.
3. Math p. 365 #16-22
4. Pen pal letter by Wednesday.
5. Bring your Science lab results from the experiment last week.
6. Food donations for the food drive, all donations are appreciated.
7. Finish ALL History work...your groups are waiting on you! Presentation work should be done.
